Tribal Energy Education Collaborative
Tribal Energy Alternatives envisions the Tribal Energy Education Collaborative as a comprehensive place-based education and workforce training approach providing a roadmap for a sustainable and resilient energy future. The Tribal Energy Education Collaborative will serve as a professional and academic resource for Tribal Colleges and Universities, Native Serving Institutes, and other College and University systems who are interested in in helping to move forward energy education for tribal communities. TEA values regional education systems as information hubs and understands the impact of being able to serve tribal communities locally.
The Tribal Energy Education Collaborative will provide technical and executive education and work in partnership with tribal communities to advance the workforce and energy education needs by providing the following:
- Networking and Convening Opportunities: Host workshops, meetings, and networking events. These gatherings will foster collaboration among participating TCU’s and colleges allowing them to share best practices, resources, and curricula.
- Student Learning Opportunities: Students will have the opportunity to gain access to paid learning opportunities such as Installation Basics, professional development, and additional experiential learning opportunities.
- Curriculum Development: TEA will support faculty to be able to assist with renewable energy training and courses through direct advising and guidance.
- Lab Buildouts: TEA’s technical training team will support training lab buildouts which will provide the physical space and tools required for hands-on solar installation, operations, and maintenance training, allowing TCUs to offer practical, industry-relevant learning experiences to their students.
- Faculty Renewable Energy Support: Provide resources and professional development training for faculty members to be equipped with integrating renewable energy education.
- Funding: Through the Tribal Energy Education Collaborative, TEA will also continue to focus on building capacity for TCUs to deploy renewable energy programming at their schools. This will include support through funding, infrastructure support, training, and experiential learning opportunities for staff, faculty, and students.
TCU Energy Professional Learning Fund
Through the Tribal College Energy Professional Learning Fund, TEA will be offering professional development funds up to $5000 for faculty and administrators who has been affiliated with their institution for a minimum of 2+ years and interested in developing or enhancing renewable energy programs at their institutions. The use of funds is restricted to professional development opportunities across the clean energy ecosystem. Priority will be given to opportunities with continuing education certifications.
